Many teachers now days teach students how to play the piano by reading sheet music; Which is fine is you
want to limit your learning by how to find a note on a piano by where you read it on someone elses written material. Over years of practice you can learn to play the basics, but you will be limited in creativty by not
fully understanding the core principles that unlock how to truly play a piano with open emotion.
I offer lessons of a differnt style. I am a self taught pianist/Professional keyboard player of 21 years, and
have learned through many years of practice, how to unlock the mystery of playing the piano, and how to
teach others the simplicty of playing as well. Many see pianos as huge, complex over whelming instruments, when in reality they are as simplistic as typing on a computer keyboard, all you need to do is learn to
memorize the sounds, and combinations a piano has to offer. Once you are shown this, and are familiar
you'll be able to pick out any song you hear on the radio, and be able to play a similar version on the piano.
The advantages of learning to play by ear, opposed to learning
to play by notes is this. When learning to play by reading, not
only do you have to learn the piano, the keys, the sounds, the
pedals, the sheet music, how to read the notes, how to relate
those notes on the keys to piano (I lose you yet?) I think you get
my point.. When learning to play by ear, I teach you to focus on
the core principles of learning to seek and identify all of the
notes, the sounds they make, and the structure for which your
fingers memorize the patterns in which music is built on.
As an example, I taught my 10 year old daughter Aeris how to
play, and memorize (to play any time) the right hand portions of
Bethovens "feralise" in 15 minutes. From that simple lesson, she
can now pick out sounds, and is teaching her self how to play
with the sameapproach, and direction.
Playing piano doesn't have to be hard, you just have to teach
your mind how to remove the compelxity, and over wheleming
impression it causes, and teach your self to see, and realize the
simplicity of it.
Offered in the song writing, and music production lessons I will cover all of the fundementals, and music theory related to writing, producing, mixing, and the final release of how songs are created and put together. I will also cover how to produce the melody, eq tips and tricks to get the cleanest, loudest, and pure sound possible, as well as recording techniques to get the best material possible to work with, as well as how to write lyrics, and certain aspects to look for and stay away from when writing the words to a song. These lessons will completely teach you how to start from scratch, or an idea, and be able to produce, and complete a full finished radio ready song.
